Since I started podcasting, I’ve had countless comments asking if I’m on OnlyFans. So, I thought it was time to address my thoughts on it. Firstly no I am not.
Frankly, I couldn’t care less if a woman makes her living on OnlyFans, go for it, as long as you own it. But let’s be real, if you’re objectifying and selling yourself, call it what it is. Don’t wrap it up in some pseudo-feminist narrative like Kate Nash claiming she’s empowering women or inspiring the youth. Kate Nash isn’t inspiring my daughter, let me tell you that much.
Here’s the thing, as an everyday woman, I can’t even go on a podcast to talk about serious issues like rape or domestic violence without being objectified or accused of having an OnlyFans. Why? Because so many women and girls are doing it that it’s become a cultural default. Wear a bit of mascara or straighten your hair? Bam, you’re labeled as an OnlyFans girl.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m no prude. I’m bipolar and I fully enjoy consensual intimacy. But I also believe sex is something private, an energy shared between two people. It’s not a commodity to broadcast to the masses. Sex carries an energy exchange, every time you let someone into your life (and your body), a little piece of them stays with you. To me, sex is sacred. So the idea of having multiple men cycle through your energy for the sake of a new handbag, a car, or a house just doesn’t add up. Personally, I enjoy intimacy because I want to, not because I need to pay the bills.
I also believe content from OnlyFans creators should not dominate social media algorithms, where it becomes easily accessible to young children. This kind of sexualised material undermines traditional family values and has a harmful impact on society.
Now, let’s talk about the fallout. I’ve received some truly vile messages from desperate men and I’m not even objectifying myself, In most of my content I’m fully covered. Imagine how much worse it would be if I weren’t? I’m a trauma sufferer with a mental illness, I’m somewhat vulnerable and this kind of attention feels predatory and downright unsafe. I’ve been raped and beaten, so let me be clear: I don’t want you to “hug my pain away,” you seedy perverts. If I’m nice to you, it’s probably because I feel sorry for you, not because I want to have sex with you. So politely fuck off, go get an ‘Only Fans’ subscription and stay the out of my DMs.
There you have it, my unfiltered take on OnlyFans, wrapped up in equal parts frustration and clarity.
