Given that it’s Suicide Prevention Month, I wanted to take this opportunity to discuss the connection between revenge porn/nudes and suicide a topic that’s become increasingly relevant.
There have been far too many cases of people taking their own lives after falling victim to revenge porn/nudes. It’s important to remember that if you’ve ever made the mistake of sending a nude photo or rude video to someone you trusted, it’s not the end of the world. If those images end up being leaked, it’s crucial to remind yourself that it’s just a body part, something we all have. Today’s shocking headline is tomorrow’s forgotten news. Do not let something so insignificant drive you to such a tragic conclusion. If you’re reading this and thinking, “Oh no, I’ve sent a nude,” know that you’re not alone. Making mistakes is part of growing up. It’s normal.
However, it’s essential to be cautious when sharing intimate photos/videos. Someone you trust today might betray you tomorrow, and there’s also the risk of being catfished. A narcissist may ask for nudes to gain leverage and exert control over you. If they are pressing you to send nudes this is a major red flag and you should break contact immediately.
Remember, your worth is not defined by a revenge photo/video. They look bad for sharing it, not you!
