I knew discussing my truth would spark controversy. I may come across as somewhat nonchalant, but when you’ve known nothing but trauma, you develop a thick skin and see no other option but to press on. My past has likely contributed to my mental illness diagnosis, but I want people to know that I’m doing well now. For many years, I carried a lot of anger and hate. Staying in that mindset only brought more trouble and strife. Once I learned to let go of hate and resentment, my life became enriched.
I understand my story may seem unbelievable, but unfortunately, it’s my reality. Living in big cities comes with its own chaos. As I mentioned in my previous blog, I was fortunate to escape to my grandmother’s house Monday through Friday, which allowed me to experience a lighter side of life.
Some might think I’m insensitive or hypocritical for commenting on an SA case I wasn’t deeply familiar with, but I stand by my belief that she should have gone to the police before naming and accusing her perpetrator on social media. When the Podcast host offered me the chance to name the prison officer who coerced me. I didn’t feel it was right to announce it on there, especially considering he might have children watching.
I hope you understand that I need some time to get back on my feet. There have been some hurtful comments, as expected, but that’s part and parcel of telling your story. Not everyone will like it, and not everyone will believe it, and that’s something I have to deal with.
Thank you so much for your kind messages; they mean a lot to me. I hope everyone reading this is well. Go easy, everyone. 💚 🧠
